Senator Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand both say they strongly oppose President Trump's nomination of U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
Both listed a number of things they believe could be in jeopardy if she is confirmed, including the affordable care and a women's right to choose.
In a statement Senator Schumer said in part:
"President Trump and Leader McConnell are doing what no Senate has done before: shamelessly rushing to fill Justice Ginsburg’s seat less than 40 days before a presidential election. Justice Ginsburg’s dying wish was that she not be replaced until a new president is installed. Republicans are poised to not only ignore her wishes, but to replace her with someone who could tear down everything that she built."
Senator Gillibrand said in part: "President Trump’s nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court represents the further degradation of our democracy and the continued politicization of our judiciary."
