The president of Syracuse's police union says he had no idea that Mayor Walsh would be enacting the Syracuse Police Reform Agenda, and claims officers have been left in the dark.

Jeff Piedmonte says the department rewrote its use of force policy last year, and revisiting it now would just be a way to appease people.

The new agenda aims at implementing the Right to Know Act, engaging with protesters, and ensure compliance with the Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative.

Piedmonte goes on to say politicians are making it harder to recruit young officers with changes like these, because they feel the risks aren't worth the rewards.

He says the whole police department doesn't need to be revamped because of a few incidents that didn't even happen here.

"Changes that are really going to put officers in danger," Piedmonte said of the new agenda.
