Governor Andrew Cuomo, in a statement, has supported Nancy Pelosi's bid to return to the speakership of the House of Representatives.
"Nancy Pelosi is a battle tested leader with a demonstrable track record of governmental accomplishment during the most difficult times. Her political leadership skills were proven once again in these midterm victories," Cuomo said of the California Democrat in a statement released Friday. "On a parochial level the Speaker has been a great friend to the state of New York and knows our needs intimately. She has always fought for our priorities and I believe she always will."
Anthony Brindisi, Brian Higgins and Max Rose were New York Democrats who signed the letter. Brindisi and Rose are newcomers to the House, which flipped to Democratic control in midterm elections this month. On Wednesday, Higgins changed course, announcing he would vote for Pelosi.
