Anti-domestic violence advocates and state lawmakers in New York on Thursday called for changes to New York's family court system.

The advocates contend the current system is "draconian," and has led to the deaths of children over the last seven years.

State Sen. James Skoufis is backing a proposal meant to change the system, with provisions designed to protect children. Skoufis spoke about the measure on Capital Tonight and the chances of the proposal becoming law.
