The Working Families Party has endorsed four Democrats running for open seats in the state Senate and Assembly in the Rochester area.

The WFP has backed Samra Brouk, who is running for the seat being vacated by Sen. Rich Funke and Jeremy Cooney, who is running for the district represented by retiring Sen. Joe Robach. Both incumbents are Republicans.

In the Assembly, the party has endorsed candidate Sarah Clarke, running for the seat vacated by Monroe County Clerk Jamie Rameo. And the WFP has endorsed Demond Meeks, who is seeking to represent the district held by outgoing Assemblyman David Gantt.

“In 2018, New Yorkers elected a slate of lawmakers who promised to deliver real change for working families. Now, the WFP is working overtime to elect even more progressive champions to build on those wins—that’s why we’re thrilled to endorse Samra and Jeremy for State Senate, and Sarah, Demond and Harry for Assembly,” said WFP Director Sochie Nnaemeka. “Our legislature has the potential to do so much more for all our residents, from fully funding schools to building enough affordable housing to fighting for progressive revenue reform. We have no doubt these candidates will join the fight in Albany for a more just New York — and we look forward to helping them get there.”

The party had previously endorsed the re-election of Assemblyman Harry Bronson.
