ORLANDO, Fla. — The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) breaks ground on Thursday in partnership with United Airlines to bring a new technical operations complex to Central Florida.
The $315 million project aims to push toward the future as the airline’s fleet continues to grow.
With the largest fleet in the world already, according to United Airlines spokesman Charles Hobart, this tech ops complex helps to ensure that the company can provide the resources necessary when needed with a facility closer than ever.
“Modernizing our footprint in Orlando is part of our larger strategy to ensure we have the facilities and resources to support our planned maintenance activities as our continues to grow,” Hobart said in a statement. “This improvement will centralize our maintenance work at the airport and bring more than 1,000 Tech Ops employees closer together.”
The groundbreaking event is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at 8855 Tradeport Drive, Orlando.
