Wedding planning season is underway and couples are paying attention to every detail to make their special day magical.

“It’s very exciting. I think just working with your partner to just figure it out is a fun experience,” said Gabrielle Bonnes, who, along with her fiancé Nicholas, is planning a wedding for October 2026.

Bonnes says they’re learning a lot along the way.

“A stressful process to start. Once you pick your venue, things do get a bit easier. Everything starts to fall in place,” said Nicholas Variara.

“We sent out Save the Dates first, which I would not recommend. Start getting quotes and then send your save the dates,” said Adeline Olmsted.

For Olmsted and her fiancé Russell Rohan, budget has been the most challenging part for them, especially because they are planning for over 250 people. They’re trying to remain calm and enjoy the process.

“Patience, you know, because everybody is coming together to work to plan it and helping each other in the ways that we need is cool,” said Rohan.

And with all the time, energy and funds going toward the big day, being able to sit back, relax and recap on the honeymoon has Russell and Adeline excited for their trip to Jamaica.

“The only thing you have to watch out for that is the hurricane season. AAA is behind you 100%. We make sure that you have insurance if something was to happen with the hurricane,” said Robin Mitchell, senior travel advisor for AAA in Syracuse.

Mitchell says they have the newlyweds covered when it comes to planning the honeymoon.

“We can plan everything from the airfare, to the resort, to the cruise, to the European tours. Whatever they need, we’re a full-service travel agency. We do foreign currency here, we do passport pictures here. We have a lot of things to offer,” said Mitchell.

Planning the perfect day can be a stressful process, but it’s all worth it to say ‘I do.’

“Definitely when the doors open for her to walk down the aisle, it’s going to be a good day,” said Variara.
