Two Utica natives are sharing their love for food with their own twist.

Keith Brown and Gio Gump are co-hosts of "Eat Local," a YouTube channel that highlights local foods in the greater Utica area.

"Just decided to go for it, highlighting places locally, local food, the people behind it and the story behind it as well," said Gump.

The channel started three years ago with the focus being pizza and wing reviews. Since then, they’ve expanded into Syracuse and now have some plans in the works to branch out across the state, with Buffalo at the top of their list.

"He built the foundation for it, it’s always something I wanted to do. I think the area is a melting pot of places and there’s so much different food. I want to showcase and highlight that. I want to share that the world. So for us it was like peanut butter and jelly when we connected," said Brown.

For a new episode, they’re rating O’Scugnizzo Pizzeria, which only makes upside down pizzas.

"It’s kind of like a Sicilian, kind of like a grandma, square pie, sauce on top and toppings on bottom," said Gump.

Part of the show is talking about the history of the place and for people to get a feel of the whole picture.

"In 1914, Eugenio Berlino came over here from Italy; he popped up this spot right here on Bleeker and it hasn’t stopped since. The second oldest pizzeria in the United States, right next to Papa’s Tomato Pies in New Jersey," said Gump.

"Every time I come in here, I bite into a piece of pizza, it tastes like childhood, it really does. They haven’t deviated: Same recipe, same sauce, quality ingredients," said Brown.

They are not just rating the food, but also the entire experience.

"The moment that you pick up the phone, the customer service, how easy it is to get the food, how fast it is. Basically from the time that we pick up the phone to the time the box closes after we’re done," said Gump.
