Republican incumbent Claudia Tenney is being challenged by Democrat David Wagenhauser in the 24th Congressional District race.

Both candidates say they’re eager to work with both sides of the aisle.

Tenney touts her three terms in Congress and says if re-elected, her focus would be on small business, particularly family farms.

“You can't overregulate and make it impossible for our businesses to thrive and to survive," Tenney said. "When you do that, you see a huge job growth. And that's one thing we did see as a result of the tax cuts. As I said, if they expire, we're going to see a real downturn in our economy.”

Her opponent, David Wagenhauser, calls himself a moderate Democrat who believes in working with the people.

If elected, he’s looking to bring money to the 24th District by promoting more educational and career opportunities.

“We got to expose our kids to the trades, show them how important it is, get jobs here and lure them here with a good workforce," Wagenhauser said. "That means bringing community college community colleges in, working with them and actually getting the money there so we can get our people educated.”

Both candidates have different plans to preserve Social Security, monitor the northern border and save on Medicare.
