There are only a few days left of the New York State Fair. If you haven’t visited yet, there are some new food options this year. From spicy corn dogs to grilled cheese to strawberries and chocolate, there's a little of everything to sample.

“Every batch takes two hours to prove and it has no dairy or egg in it,” said Esther Hicks, owner of GoldenKdog, a new vendor at the fair this year from North Carolina.

What You Need To Know

  • GoldenKdog makes hot dogs and cheese covered in dough, with some rolled in french fries, and dipped in panko crumbs before being fried.

  •  Chocolate Taps serves cups of strawberries covered in chocolate, accompanied by other toppings.

  • Bees and Thank You sells grilled cheese with honey form their own farms.

And their best seller is the potato mozzarella dog.

“Which has no hot dog in it. It's giant mozzarella cheese inside. And then we roll it in a dough, which is what makes it different than regular corn dog. So instead of dipping in a corn batter, we roll it in yeasted dough, and then we bread it with French fries and then dip it in the panko, which makes it crispy outside. And then we fry it until it's golden brown and it's fluffy inside like a donut batter,” said Hicks.

Over in the eatery, it’s a chocolate lover’s dream.

“So we start off with a layer of whipped cream on the bottom with fresh strawberries. Drizzle chocolate because there's gotta be chocolate throughout the cup with more whipped cream, fresh strawberries, drizzled chocolate, and then whip on top,” said co-founder of Chocolate Taps, Lisa Zheng.

This is the first year Chocolate Taps is in business. And the highlight is their continuous chocolate dispensing machine.

“Started off as fresh berries in a cup drizzled with premium Belgian chocolate. I kind of went a little crazy and I was like, what if we did even better creations. So lo and behold, we've got cheesecake cups now, brownie cups, zebra cake cups, strawberry shortcake, and one of our fan favorites that's slowly rising and becoming the star is our strawberries and cream cup,” said Zheng.

Near the midway entrance, you can find a sweet and savory fusion at Bees and Thank You.

“A lot of it has to do with the buttery goodness of a toasted bread, with the cheese and the honey. Like it's going to be a little bit sweet, but it's very delicious and very good to have with any fair drink you have, any fair snack you have. And it's great whether it's in the early in the morning, late at night, midafternoon, it's always a great snack to have,” said Cris Pizarro, Bees And Thank You.

The Massachusetts-based business is unique, using their own honey on their grilled cheeses.

“Our honey is straight from hives. We don't buy store product,” said Pizarro.
