One Onondaga County-based artist has spread her talents throughout the New York State Fairgrounds.

There's nothing quite like watching a piece of art come to life right before your eyes. Ally Walker has been doing that throughout the New York State Fairgrounds, paying tribute to New York through her art.

“I've just always had a lot of fun with it. It's a medium that I don't often get to play with, but I love playing with it, and it's a lot of fun to get really dirty,” said Walker.

Walker has been brightening up the pavement with her works of art.

“And if you can catch their attention for a few minutes, I feel like I've done my job well,” said Walker.

What You Need To Know

  • Artist Ally Walker made 5 works of chalk art at the NYS Fair.

  •  She works with spray chalk as well as chalk and pastels.

  • A couple of the pieces are meant to be interactive.

She’s been creating chalk paintings exploding with life. Some of her work is meant to be interactive, so fairgoers can pose for a photo.

“Now they've become a part of the art, and they're not only interacting with it, but they're creating their own with it, which I think is really neat,” said Walker.

She enjoys meeting people that pass by while she is creating her chalk art.

“Just literally some kids eating sandwiches and watching me work and not wanting to go and move on to the next thing, you know. It's kind of nice to be able to interact with everybody,” said Walker.

You can check out some of Ally's work near the Voices of the Farmer Garden, the basketball court, as well as the Art and Home building.
