For the last 15 baseball seasons, Keith Griffin had called upstate New York home during the summer.

"I'm a creature of habit, and things are pretty good," he said. "I know where everything is, and I like that."

The Alabama native has built enduring relationships off the field over the years and has won nine championships with the Amsterdam Mohawks.

"That's why we come: to win. That's why I'm here," Griffin said. "These fans show up, and Brian [Spagnola] and I put this team together, and our assistant coaches work so hard. We're trying to win it."

Since joining the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League at its inception in 2011, Griffin has led Amsterdam to seven titles, including the last two championships.

"Our players are absolutely outstanding and very talented players. So, starts from there," he said. "I got great coaching staff."

The humble Griffin just loves coaching baseball. Between managing a community college team in Alabama and the Mohawks, he coaches 120 to 130 games a year.

"I don't know if it's in my blood, but I've been doing this thing for 46 years. I've enjoyed it every day," Griffin said. "I tell people all the time, I've never worked a day in my life."

With a new PGCBL season in full swing, Griffin is now focused on elevating this group to contend for another championship. He wants to give the dedicated fans what they desire.

"We average about 2,000 people a night. So they show up and they support, and they're really good. Fans are knowledgeable, and they know what good baseball looks like, and they're very supportive," he said.

Griffin continues to make this his summer destination year in and year out because of the fans, the players and the staff.

"I've made lifetime friends here that you'll be friends with mine the rest of their lives," Griffin said.
