With every dive, Nathan Davey takes another step closer to competing in his third consecutive state championship meet.

"We just keep pushing each other, keep challenging each other to do our best," said Nathan, a junior diver for Shenendehowa.

He qualified for states after winning the Section II title earlier this month. But it wasn’t easy, with younger brother Logan nipping at his heels, who finished second and is also heading to states.

"It definitely scared me. Definitely throughout the season, I was looking at him in practice and I was just like 'wow, I wan’t doing that well my freshman year'," Nathan said.

"I told my brother right there before we got on the block, I was like, 'I never wanted to stand next to you more in my life'," said Logan Davey, a freshman for the Plainsmen, referring to the medal ceremony.

It’s easy to see what drove the pair to so much success this year. Not to mention, their sister, Morgan, also won a Section II diving championship in the fall and competed at states.

"It was shocking, but definitely the work was put in," said Morgan Davey, a junior diver.

Before all three started diving together, gymnastics was the first sport they bonded over growing up together.

"I did gymnastics for about 10 years before I switched over to diving. And I got brought over by one of my friends. Introduced me to coach and it’s been kind of great from there," Nathan said.

Morgan Davey would join her twin brother a few years later and quickly developed a passion for it as well.

"I went to practice like wanting to go. I couldn’t wait to go to practice," Morgan said.

With older brother and sister on board, Logan jumped in soon after.

"I can always asked them if I need help on a dive correction or anything. They usually always know what’s going on," Logan said.

The constant support and competition between the three have helped them get here.

"It’s so cool having a twin sister that also excels at a sport just like I do," Nathan said. "It’s crazy."

Nathan and Logan are looking to put together one more dominating performance this Friday at Ithaca College for the boys state championships.

"It’s pushed me a lot. I just try to do as good as him," Logan said. "Maybe even try and beat him one of these times. That’s my goal."

And Morgan will be there rooting on her brothers.

"We all support each other so much, and it’s really run to have family to relate to that also do it," Morgan said.
