The city of Dunkirk was once a key shipping and manufacturing hub along the shore of Lake Erie, and this weekend on In Focus, the city’s director of planning and development, Vince DeJoy, talks to JoDee Kenney about the various projects being made possible with the award of $10 million state funding from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. DeJoy said those include rehabilitating and redeveloping several downtown buildings, as well as capitalizing on Dunkirk’s historic waterfront. He said the city’s goals are to foster a diverse downtown and grow economic opportunities, while maintaining Dunkirk’s authenticity.
