Making spirits bright for every child is the mission of the dedicated volunteers with the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program this holiday season. Staff Sgt. Patrick Lurenz, Capital Region Toys for Tots coordinator, spoke with JoDee Kenney about the annual campaign that kicks off each October. In addition to collecting and distributing new, unwrapped toys, volunteers coordinate with area non-profit groups to identify families in need. Lurenz said more than 360,000 children will receive gifts this year in the 14 counties in the Capital Region Toys for Tots Chapter.
