This weekend on In Focus, we host a conversation on why the giving season shouldn’t end with the holidays. Syracuse Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens joined JoDee Kenney to talk about the many organizations at work in the city, to provide a helping hand to families this month and year-round. Owens said contacting the United Way can help connect families to assistance. The deputy mayor highlighted the Salvation Army’s holiday campaign and Christmas Bureau Giveaway on Dec. 20 at the OnCenter in Syracuse, as well as the Mary Nelson Youth Center’s giveaways, which includes school supplies for students in need each August. While it can be a stressful time of year for many families, help is there to make sure every kid has a bright holiday season.
