Since student loan borrowers started repaying their debt last month, organizations like the Better Business Bureau are seeing an increase in student loan scams.

According to the Robocall tracker website Robokiller.com, the U.S. saw more than 4.8 billion robocalls last month. That's up almost 2 billion from September.

Experts say it's likely the U.S. Department of Education could call you regarding your loans, but, they will never ask for personal information or sell your debt relief.

Artificial intelligence plays a key role in the increase of scams.

"I think it's also opening doors for making voices sound like someone else or, you know, kind of this deep fake, making it look real and it's not so," Judy Dollison, president, Central Ohio BBB, said. "Technology makes it harder for us to identify a sphere. And that's really where we're seeing a lot of changes happen."

The BBB suggests to use their scam tracker website to report ot lookup a scam. You can also find accredited debt relief programs and website through the Better Business Bureau.
