Former Bills and Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams is in a Florida hospital fighting his for life, according to the sports agency that represented him during his NFL playing days.
Hadley Engelhard, president and CEO of Enter Sports Management, says as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Williams was “still in the hospital, fighting, as a result of an accident.”
Williams, 36, was hospitalized after suffering injuries during an accident while working at a construction site. Spectrum News 1 on Tuesday incorrectly reported that Williams died after reporter Jon Scott spoke to multiple people close to Williams who said they learned of his death.
Williams played college football at Syracuse University, scoring 20 touchdowns from 2006 to 2009.
He was drafted in 2010 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was named to the Pro Football Writers of America NFL All-Rookie Team after scoring 11 touchdowns that year. He would go on to play for his hometown Bills in 2014.
