The New York State Assembly is moving forward with a bill that would limit certain pesticides across the state.
If signed into law, the Birds and Bees Protection Act would restrict the sale and use of neonicotinoids.
The measure would also require the Department of Environmental Conservation to review the latest scientific information regarding pesticide ingredients.
This comes in hopes of protecting pollinators and the environment.
Dr. David Carpenter with the University at Albany School of Public Health joined our Casey Bortnick to discuss what these specific pesticides are, and why they might be considered dangerous.
Carpenter also spoke on who would be most impacted by the changes, and some alternatives to pesticides that New Yorkers can utilize.
