If you're a fan of movies, you've probably heard of the movie "Champions." It's a new movie that came out earlier this month and stars Woody Harrelson, who plays a basketball coach given a court-order to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities training for the Special Olympics.
The release of the movie also coincides with National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and the New Hope Community Group in Sullivan County works with similar people and is very closely involved with the Special Olympics as well.
Lawrence Crawford, athletic director at New Hope Community, joins Spectrum News 1 to discuss the importance of representation and opportunities for those who live with these developmental disabilities, the work New Hope is doing and more.
