Signed into law in 2019, New York state's CROWN Act bans discrimination in schools and workplaces based on the way a person wears their hair. To talk about the struggles many people still face, especially people of color, Spectrum News 1 anchor Karen Edwards sat down with Albany Common Council Member Carolyn McLaughlin, McLean Group President Kathleen McLean and Trends Barber Salon co-owners Jasmine Wilson and Kat SoPoetic.
