A celebration for Cicero–North Syracuse. It’s déjà vu.
For four straight seasons, they’ve been here, holding up this regional championship plaque. But that trophy goes in the case. The state hardware does not, because they haven’t gotten to play for it.
“All I’m going to say is, it’s like working on a farm. The day isn’t over until the job is done," Roemellow Robinson said.
That is to make history.
What You Need To Know
- The C-NS football team blanked Corning to win their fifth straight regional title
- The Northstars will now face Bennett out of Section VI with a trip to the state final on the line
- Kickoff is 6 p.m. Saturday at Union-Endicott
“I think the trust that we have for each other will help us get over the hump and get to the state championship," Jaxon Razmovski said.
“This team is just different. We all play for each other. We put our bodies on the line for everybody," Farouk Ibrahim Jr said.
You can see the chemistry here, on the practice field, where three words are used a lot: why not us?
The squad standing in the way is Bennett, which blanked C-NS in the semis last year.
“We don’t really lose to the same team twice. That’s what we’re going on. It’s not a thing we’ve done in the past," Robinson said.
So what’s it going to take to get by this section VI squad?
“We’re going to have to play a perfect game, match physically and be perfect," Dave Kline said.
The tools are in place, the stage is set. All that’s left is what the players leave between the lines Saturday night.
“We’ve still got so much gas left in the tank. We have the ability to win it all," Robinson said. “We’re going to let it go and go out there and, hopefully, the best team wins, and hopefully that’s us," Kline said.
Why not the Northstars?
“Let’s make a little history," Robinson said.
C-NS will kick off against Bennett at 6 p.m. Saturday at Union-Endicott.
