The World of Horses exhibit is back at the fair after a several year hiatus. This is your chance to get up close and personal with horses. You can learn about these animals inside, and out.

There’s a giant model horse named Charlie, with diagrams of the bones and organs of horses. You can pet real live horses, too. Dr. Karin Bump is there to explain some fun facts, like how horses have the largest eyes of any land mammal.

She will also explain how to best approach a horse so they don’t get scared, and some information if you’re thinking about having a career with horses. One career you could have with horses is in law enforcement. Mounted police officers have a role in the New York State Police.

Many of the horses in the barn only stay for two to three days, but often come from horse rescues.

The World of Horses exhibit is near the Youth building and Indian Village.

Bump also says the horse industry has a $5 billion impact on New York’s economy. Gov. Kathy Hochul made an announcement last week, that the fair grounds will be getting three 9,000 square foot stables, opening in time for the 2024 fair run.
