It’s the first weekend of the Great New York State Fair and Food Truck Saturday. Food trucks were lined up by Chevy Court and giving out $2 samples.
“It’s so exciting to be back,” Wolf Patio Pizza co-owner Linda Dwyer said. “The food truck rodeo is always a big event, it draws a lot of people. We get to showcase all of our pizzas so people get to try them. So it’s a lot of fun.”
Dwyer says this is their seventh year at the fair. All of the business' dough is made at Four Guys Pizza in Liverpool, giving workers the canvases needed to create list of pies, both traditional and not.
“We’re doing all of our pizzas, fresh tomatoes, pesto and mozzarella,” Dwyer said. “We’re doing Buffalo chicken. We’re doing spinach roasted red pepper, all of them. We have our whole menu featured today.”
And while some were dining on pizza, others were pigging out at Pinkie’s BBQ. The food truck and restaurant located in Binghamton made its way to the State Fair so new customers could try some finger-licking barbecue.
“Our sample today is a chopped brisket poutine,” Pinkies BBQ co-owner Dan Napierala said. “We take our beef brisket and chop it up and mix it with some of our famous barbecue sauce, put it over some fries and drizzle white cheddar cheese sauce over the top.”
Napierala says it’s the people that make the experience worthwhile.
“I love talking to people from where they’re at, to different places, see some old friends that stopped by and meet some new ones, it’s great,” Napierala said.
Food Truck Saturday will be back next week for the last Saturday of the State Fair.
