Registration for classic car owners for the Syracuse Nationals is taking place today at the Ramada by Wyndham on Electronics Parkway in Liverpool.
Many car owners were seen lining up their classics in the parking lot before 6:00 a.m. Thursday to beat the rush when registration for show cars opens at 8:00 a.m.
Organizers are anticipating about 90,000 guests will visit the show this weekend. The fairgrounds will host between 6,000 and 8,000 vintage, classic, and custom rides from mainly the northeast and Canada.
"We have cars coming from Texas, California, we have a couple cars from Oklahoma. A lot of states up and down the east coast. Florida, Tennessee, Carolinas, so it's really exciting to welcome everybody to Syracuse and everybody loves Syracuse because Syracuse really opens their arms up to all these people from out of town," said Right Coast Inc. President Rob O' Connor.
Despite having the event last year, organizers said this year has much more of a "normal" feel to it now that restrictions are lifted. Many people look forward to the Nationals for the charity auctions, contests and fireworks.
Officials said the event has about a $10 million dollar impact on the local economy.
The Nationals will get started early Friday morning when a few thousand car owners will drive onto the grounds to get their favorite spots around 5:30 a.m.
Tickets are $25 dollars at the gate and $10 dollars for children. Kids 5 and under are free. The show will open to the public at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning.
