Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney is visiting Europe this week to speak with American troops, Ukrainian leaders and others about the war in Ukraine and how the United States can best support Ukrainian forces.
Maloney, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, is part of a congressional delegation that are meeting with NATO and U.S. allies.
As part of his travels, Maloney stopped in Poland and spoke with soldiers stationed at the border, including several West Point graduates.
The war in Ukraine dominated discussions.
Maloney focused on solidarity with Ukraine and support for NATO allies. He said the Ukrainians have shown the world their strength and courage.
He and members of the delegation spoke via Zoom with news reporters. He voiced support for arming Ukraine and sanctioning Russia.
"What I want folks at home to know is that the sons and daughters produced by the Hudson Valley are right here on the frontlines of freedom, and it's an honor to see them in action and you should be very proud of them," Maloney said.
He said U.S. sanctions on Russia were working.
"We’re going to make sure the regime and the wrongdoers in that regime who have benefited from these policies will pay a price. Together, all of these things will put pressure on Vladimir Putin," Maloney said.
