Spectrum and its parent company, Charter Communications, are partnering with Ovation TV to advance the arts across the country through the Stand for Arts Award Initiative.
Locally, CNY Arts is getting a $10,000 grant through the program.
The goal of the Ovation TV's Stand for the Arts Initiative is to raise awareness, protect access and encourage action on behalf of the arts.
CNY Arts is being recognized for its work during the pandemic in creating the COVID-19 Arts Impact Fund. The fund raised over $1 million and has distributed over $750,000 so far in grants to artists and organizations in recovery.
"Spectrum has stepped up to provide a $10,000 grant to support CNY Arts as we are coming out of the pandemic, as arts organizations and individual artists are getting out in the community and bringing in audiences and trying to get back to normal. And this grant goes a long way in getting us back to the true arts community that we are," Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh said.
John Malkin, Ovation TV executive vice president of content distribution, said, "And over the last several years, Ovation and Spectrum have provided over a half a million dollars in arts funding to markets across the county."
CNY Arts is no stranger to this initiative, as it was also honored in 2017.
Spectrum is owned by Charter Communications, the parent company of this news channel.
