Officials with the Rush-Henrietta Central School District say they’re making it a point to support students being directly impacted by the war in Ukraine.
Officials are speaking with students who are Ukrainian themselves or have family in the country.
The district is also hosting community building circles, where all students can discuss the conflict.
“There’s been a lot of discussions around the ethics of what is happening and students having strong feelings about what is taking place and just a lot of feelings of fear and worry for the individuals who are being hurt in this crisis,” Dr. Diane Wynne, Rush-Henrietta CSD director of wellness and equity, said. “There’s a range of emotions that our students and staff are feeling, rightfully so.”
Rush-Henrietta has also connected students and staff with counseling services if they need them.
