A local developer is teaming up with a non-profit to collect winter gear for people in need. The COR Development Company and the United Way of Central New York are hosting the "Share the Warmth" campaign through early next month.

The Aloft Hotel in the Inner Harbor is one of about a dozen sites you can find drop off bins for clothing in Onondaga County.

Though temperatures outside have been on the mild side lately, we will soon be approaching our coldest months of the year. That's why donations will help in such a big way. COR officials said this is the fifth year they're hosting this drive.

From now through January 2, you can drop off new or gently used coats, hats, scarves and gloves at one of three COR properties.

Organizers said you may be looking to make room in your closets after Christmas and it helps that this drive will continue into the new year. Whether it's helping a homeless adult or someone living paycheck to paycheck, the donations never go to waste.

"COR believes in giving back to the community. It's a great opportunity to support and give back to the local community that we live in as well as COR has the support and locations to be able to collect these important items," said COR Development Marketing Manager Merissa Lynch.

"When you think about what it means to work together. We at United Way like to say united we do more and certainly that's the truth. Making it easy for people in the community to make a difference," said United Way of CNY President Nancy Kern Eaton.

COR has eight sites at Towne Center in Fayetteville where you can drop donations off. If you happen to drop off items at Bone Fish Grill, you'll get a voucher to use in the restaurant.

United Way officials said companies are always encouraged to contact their agency and discuss ways how they can start their own collection drives.

Drop off sites include sites at COR Properties at Towne Center in Fayetteville, COR Center on Route 31 in Clay and at the Inner Harbor, you'll find a donation bin in the entrance way of the Aloft Hotel. You can also drop off donations at the Iron Pier leasing office.
