After a successful relaunch of the Broome County Festival of Lights last year, officials are bringing it back. This year's festival is expected to top last year's event with more than 100 animated displays.

It all starts this evening in Otsiningo Park and runs through Jan. 2.

With plenty of more fun activities planned, including some fireworks displays, it's the perfect event to get the Southern Tier in the holiday spirit. Those involved say they can't wait for guests to see what's in store this time around.

"We're really excited to have the event back this year. Let me tell you, there's thousands of more lights than there were last year, so we're really excited to see this park lit up," said Broome County Parks and Recreation Director Elizabeth Woidt.

From December 11 to the 19, there will be a toy drive collecting gifts for the Children's Home of Wyoming Conference.
