Syracuse Police officers responded to the 500 block of Pearl Street for a shots fired call early Saturday morning.

Officers found a 27-year-old male upon their arrival around 2 a.m. The male had been shot in the upper part of his body and was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Syracuse Police Department says this is the 17^th homicide in Syracuse this year.

This investigation is very active and ongoing. Further information will be released when it becomes available.
