“In a given week, it could be anywhere between the entire state of Massachusetts, Albany, the Hudson Valley, Watertown, Binghamton, Syracuse,” lists Spectrum News 1 Meteorologist Jack Durkin. “Could even be Rochester and Buffalo… all over the place.”
When he’s hunkered down at his station in the Salt City, he’s keeping a close eye on the skies and getting ready to keep viewers comfortable or safe, depending on the day.
“Our job what we do is vastly important, trying to get vital information out to the public,” Durkin noted.
Some days, like the weather, hit harder than others and that’s when it’s his time to shine. It didn’t always come naturally, but almost a decade in the biz and Jack’s your guy to know.
“Honestly, for me it took me several years before I really felt myself on camera,” Durkin said. “I just love talking about the weather honestly, like it's just, it's so fun to me. I love being able to make sure that people wake up and they can trust me they can trust our colleagues know exactly what it's going to be like getting through their day.”
