The controversial construction of a new grain silo on the waterfront in the city of Oswego has seemingly come to a halt, after Mayor Billy Barlow expressed his displeasure with the Port Authority's placement.

Some residents were upset that the new structure would block the view of the iconic lighthouse.

Port Authority board members say they're starting to review what options may be available to modify their existing plans.

Their study will take into account the feasibility and cost of possible modifications, ship accesibility and the capacity required to meet customers' needs.

Following the decision, Mayor Barlow released a statement saying, "I appreciate the Port Authority Board for considering adjustments to the project to make it a more appropriate and better fit for the community."

The Port Authority is expected to make a decision on when to resume construction as early as the end of the week.
