The Utica Police Department is investigating shootings in the city that happened Saturday afternoon and early Monday morning. 

Police say there were dispatched to 100 Rutger Street on Saturday around 1:45 p.m. when they found the first victim, 56-year-old Gark McCorkle of Utica, who was shot at least once in the chest. He died from his injuries at the hospital. 

The second incident was on the 1000 block of Jefferson Ave. The victim, identified by police as 14-year-old Jineedi Sheikh of Utica, was shot once in the head and was transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where he later died from his injuries as medical staff were providing advanced emergency care.

A 15-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder for his death, as well as attempted robbery and criminal posession of a weapon.

Both investigations are still ongoing.
