Some neighbors in Manlius are concerned about a proposed solar farm, Changing Visions of Energy.

Representatives of the company want to place 35,000 solar panels on 240 acres of land on Duguid Road near Fayetteville-Manlius High School.

It plans to subdivide the project into three separate parcels, allowing them to create more megawatts than state officials would normally allow. Currently, NY-SERDA has a five mega watt limit on solar array projects. This project would generate more than 11 mega watts.

The idea is meeting some resistance from neighbors.

"They may say we are going to have buffers. It's going to be 500 feet from the school, but dollars to donuts, after this thing goes up, if it does, by the school. You’re going to have a lot of people not very happy," said resident Elizabeth Merriman.

Two other solar farms are in the works in the Town of Manlius. One on Salt Springs Road and one approved on North Eagle Village Road.
