Plenty of people took advantage of the warm weather to head out to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo on Tuesday. Right now, admission is by reservation only, and there is a 750 person per day limit.
Both visitors and zoo officials say they are excited for the spring season.
"It just so great to see people in the zoo and enjoying the animals, enjoying the beautiful weather; that's what we are used to," said Ted Fox, director at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
"Just enjoying the sunshine finally and getting out and about with the boys and they are on spring break so they wanted to hang with their cousins so we came to the zoo," said zoo visitor Randi Frey.
The zoo is also celebrating a new addition: a Humboldt Penguin chick! They're holding a contest to help name her.
The penguin team has a list of five names to choose from, which reflect its native home of Chile in Peru. You can cast a vote for what to name her by clicking this link.
