Youngsters at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School got to go to a pumpkin patch Thursday. Because there are no field trips this year, the teachers at APW decided to bring the pumpkin patch to them.

Each class got to go out in the patch out front of the school and pick out a pumpkin for themselves.

"They are going to take their pumpkins home; they're going to paint them or carve them. Some of the teachers are doing activities in the classroom. So we can give them a bright spot, and break up our typical academic routine that we do," said APW Assistant Principal Dawn Cooley.

APW teamed up with Little Salmon Farm in Parish to bring the pumpkins out to the school.
