The Rosamond Gifford Zoo has a special new addition.

Meet Iniko. She's a patas monkey, born at the zoo about three months ago.

Sadly, Iniko's mother died while giving birth, which means the zookeepers are raising her by hand.

It's something that's never been done before, making her survival all the more meaningful.

"This takes a tremendous amount of dedication and work from the staff. She was being fed every two hours, around the clock. It's dropped down a little bit now to about three hours, but still, it's a constant caring for it, just like any infant," said Rosamond Gifford Zoo Director Ted Fox.

Iniko's name means "born during troubled times." The zoo plans to introduce Iniko to the other patas monkeys, with the hopes that one will adopt her.
