The Syracuse Mets are not playing a 2020 season due to COVID-19, but that means upgrades to NBT Bank Stadium can now move forward faster than planned.

The project was meant to take two years and be completed in two phases.

The main changes were going to be done after this season. But with that put on hold, the next time fans enter the stadium, they're in for a change.

"When you come in, you're going to see new paint, new LED lighting that has color dynamic features," said Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon. "New tabletop seating on the right field and left field baselines, and behind home plate. On ... left field, we will have a bar tavern built up overseeing the field; on ... right field, we are going to have a party deck."

This project is now expected to be completed on time and under budget. The state and the county invested $25 million on these renovations.
