With over 750 career wins and a 2015 National Championship, Cortland's Joe Brown is one of the best coaches in all of baseball.
This summer he was named D3.com Coach of the Decade, but like any coach, he thanks his players.
"We've had great players in this program, we had great support in this program, and the fact that we had a nice, we've had a nice run for the last quarter of a century, has been awesome. But you've got to have horses and we've been fortunate to have a lot of them," said Coach Brown.
Those horses and star players are used to playing at one of the best facilities in baseball. Wallace Field, a baseball complex that finished its face lift this summer.
"We've been doing small incremental enhancements to our facility over the last 'X' amount of years, and it's very difficult to use state dollars, as you can imagine," said Brown.
And when the coronavirus pandemic put a halt to everything, it was the Cortland baseball community that rallied behind the program to make sure its completion would happen ahead of schedule.
"Here we are doing a giving day in the heart of a pandemic, oh, people might not give, and I felt the exact opposite. I thought people would be more generous, and it blew my mind. We blew it away. We raised over $22,000 in less than 24 hours," said Brown.
For Brown, there is no one singular project completed that stands out the most for him. In fact, it's how Cortland responded to get it done.
"The overwhelming support of these people. It's not one singular thing out there because these are the fruits of the labor of these players. We don't even come close to raising the funds we did if we don't have good ball clubs," said Brown.
For now, Coach Brown is optimistic that this spring, the Cortland community will see the all new looking Wallace Field, in all it's glory.
