An annual police appreciation rally in Binghamton saw a massive turnout as hundreds of people gathered at Broome Community College to walk down Front Street, ending at Moore Park.
The event organizer tells Spectrum News this usually falls during Police Week, but had to be postponed this year because of the coronavirus. She stresses it's in no way a retaliation or response to unrest happening nationwide, but instead a sign of appreciation for local departments.
"Our strongest issue is just that we back them and we support them and we all see an issue with defunding the police. There's not really an agenda, we're just here to show support," Organizer Roxanne Eggleston said.
This is the fourth rally of its kind in Binghamton.
