Pictures are the only way Beverly Humphrey has been able to see her father's face for years.

What You Need To Know

  • John Humphrey is 5'6", 120-pounds, and has brown eyes. He would be 56-years-old.

  • He was last seen walking along SR-104 in New Haven on June 3, 2012.

  • Tips can be shared with Inv. Joshua Pierce at 315-598-2112.

“He's kind hearted, willing to help anyone in need, funny, and just full of life,” Humphrey remembers.

This week marks a somber anniversary for relatives of an Oswego County man who was reported missing eight years ago.

“May 28, 2012, John Humphrey was released from the VA's Hospital for various mental health issues and he was to be placed in the Town of Scriba in an apartment complex," explains New York State Police Investigator Joshua Pierce.

Investigators were alerted five days later, when a caseworker visited the apartment in Building 12 on Birch Lane, to check on Humphrey. But, there was no sign he'd ever settled in.

“He left everything," Pierce adds. "He had his wallet, keys, it looks like he would have just left the apartment with just the clothes on his back."

Police believe Humphrey ended up in the town of New Haven on the morning of June 2, 2012, where another caseworker spotted him walking westbound along State Route 104, near the fire department. It would be the last time, on record, that he was seen by anyone.

8 years later, his daughter waits...remembering through photos, wondering if she'll ever have an answer to the question that she has carried now for 96 months, more than 400 weeks, nearly 3,000 days.

“Sometimes it's hard to be hopeful to be honest. But, I want to try to keep the hope for him and my siblings as well. I mean, I just wish he would come back. It's just been so hard.”
