A local seamstress is connecting sewers and frontline workers in need of masks.
Nancy Gaus created the Syracuse Mask Project, a website that helps fill mask orders. Right now SUNY Upstate, Cayuga Health, and Salvation Army are all in need. They can put in very specific orders for local sewers.
Gaus says there is still a huge need and anyone can help.
“I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from people who are sewing, so I know I’m getting visibility,” said Gaus. “I’m concerned that not enough people are sewing that can that could donate masks."
Sewers are now making scrub caps for health care workers.
