Golfers have returned to the green.

Governor Cuomo is now letting golf courses reopen, under strict guidelines. But social distancing won't keep Central New Yorkers from playing a good round of golf.

Russ Duchene, a golfer from Sherrill, grabbed his clubs and headed to Lyndon golf course Monday morning.

"I love it," said Duchene. "I do this for the exercise and enjoy the walk so, I'm glad he opened them up. With everyone cooped up in the house all the time they don't get a chance to do that so much."

No one can use caddies or golf carts, which is definitely an adjustment for long-time golfers.

"Distancing is important, but we still need exercise too so this is a great way to get it."

Club houses, pro shops, bag rooms and locker rooms have to stay closed. The only workers allowed are security and maintenance. But golfers like Gary Woodward are already getting used to this new normal.

"[We] make sure nobody walks, rides together. Nobody touches anybody's ball," he said. "Virtual high fives," he added laughing.

Woodward was one of the first golfers to return over the weekend, braving the almost-freezing cold weather.

"We said 'we got to get out,'" he said. "It feels great."
