The enormous $2 trillion stimulus package passed by the U.S. Senate will deliver aid to New York cities, hospitals, and safety net, as well as small and large businesses. Governor Andrew Cuomo called the aid package “reckless” on Thursday.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand told Spectrum News while Cuomo is doing an admirable job handling the crisis, the CARES Act was never meant to plug states’ budget gaps. It was intended as “triage.”

In a conversation with Capital Tonight’s Susan Arbetter, the senator also said this is the third of what will likely be several aid packages coming from Washington in the months to come.

The House is expected to take up the bill on Friday.
