After days of repeating that the Syracuse St. Patrick's Parade would press on, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced Thursday morning that the parade has been postponed over concerns about potentially spreading COVID-19.

There are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, McMahon said.

Syracuse follows the other larger upstate cities that have canceled or postponed their parades over the same concerns. Rochester and Albany announced earlier Thursday morning their parades would not be happening as scheduled over the weekend. Governor Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday evening that the New York City parade would be canceled.

It's unclear at this time when the parade would be rescheduled.

Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri also announced Thursday afternoon that their parade would be postponed. There are no confirmed cases there either.
