Sunday marked the end of an era at the Carrier Dome.
The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team played the final game under the Dome’s familiar inflatable roof.
"The Dome means Syracuse, this is what we've all been used to but I'm looking forward to what it's going to be, maybe some better acoustics, but it was great to see a huge crowd today,” said Deb Moynihan, an SU fan.
The Carrier Dome’s iconic inflatable roof is set to be replaced as renovations continue.
Lynn Garlipp is an usher at the Dome and an SU fan who’s been looking forward to the new changes at the facility, "I've been looking forward to do this day for a very long time because I'm extremely excited that they're finally going to be replacing the roof and renovating the Dome."
It’s a venue that’s provided plenty of memories for all Orange fans.
Moynihan recounts a memory that happened earlier this season, "Top memory, 0.8 seconds to go, Emily Engstler sinks it, we beat a team and she ends up being in the national media for it, it was a tremendous play."
Some fans were even able to get a tin replica of the Dome in honor of the final game under its familiar roof.
"It was a great item, we actually showed up an hour and a half early to the game,” says Moynihan, “Usually we come about 45 minutes, but we knew there'd be a crowd, and there was a crowd."
Syracuse dropped the contest to Boston College 88-81.
