FRANKFORT, Ky. - Two Democrats hoping to unseat Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have filed paperwork to run in next year's election.

Amy McGrath and Mike Broihier both submitted documents to the Kentucky Secretary of State's office Friday.

McGrath is a former fighter pilot who ran against U.S. Rep. Andy Barr in Kentucky's sixth congressional district and lost in 2018.

Since announcing her campaign in July, McConnell has regularly picked her out of the crowd of potential candidates due to her raising far more money than anyone else who has a campaign filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Mike Broihier also filed for election Friday.

The retired Marine and current farmer announced his intentions to run in July as well.
