It's no secret Vince Vaughn is shooting a movie in Central New York, and the set is getting even more public as it takes over downtown Syracuse.

Vaughn is starring in "The Binge," which is produced by American High. It’s bringing Hollywood to Hanover Square and it's a party featuring colorful decorations, fake pot plants, and thousands of balloons.

"We transported about 7,000 [balloons] and I've been here all morning adding, adding and adding so who knows," said Balloons Over Syracuse Owner Jared Martin.

About one month ago, Martin got the call to help decorate downtown. They said it's all for a Hulu movie starring Vaughn.

"I mean I didn't know we'd be shooting a movie for Vince Vaughn in Hanover Square. Did anybody? So no I didn't think I'd ever be doing it," Martin said.

The movie is a high school-based adventure comedy. The cast and crew have been shooting across Central New York for a few weeks.

"It’s great to have these guys around,” said Visit Syracuse Vice President of Film, TV & Entertainment Eric Vinal. “I think they're appreciating Syracuse. We try to make sure they see the Syracuse that we know and that we love — from the architecture, where to grab food or a drink, what to do on the weekends, how to enjoy fall. We try to give them the great experience that we have all the time."

Between buying props, hiring crew members, paying for hotel rooms and more, the movie is bringing about $7 million to Central New York.

It's also creating memories that money can't buy.

“Knowing that something we did and created is in this movie and is going to be showcased in this movie forever, knowing that nobody can ever do anything,” said Martin. “That's what really got me smiling."

Martin says he didn't sleep a wink Tuesday night because he was worried about the balloons popping or blowing away. Good news for him: they survived and filming is underway, and it will continue through Thursday night. The movie wraps next week.

“The Binge” will hit Hulu in 2020.
