This year's graduating class at Syracuse University will have to break with tradition.

The 2020 commencement won't be held at the Dome because of ongoing construction. Instead it will be outside on the Shaw Quad.

The ceremony has been held at the Dome since it opened in the 1980s. Spectrum News was told the school is working on a different way for seniors to say goodbye to the Dome, but students we spoke with say it's just not the same.

"Something that's so essential to the core of Syracuse and Syracuse graduates is being in the Dome,” said senior Kelly Loeb. “So it's upsetting that I don't get to end my career in the way everyone else does."

Commencement is set for May 10. As for the Dome construction, that's slated to be finished by next fall.
